They meet from October thru May at the Western Colorado Community College. By the end of the program, these students have become chief executive officers of a fully functioning enterprise that they oversee and operate. On May 15th, the entrepreneurs showcased their products and services at the Mesa Mall.
The Academy is a group of middle and high school students that learn how to develop a product or service idea and create a business plan for a start-up venture. The group is sponsored by our Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce.
Cindy had the pleasure of educating the 9 students about the broad range of services that STRiVE supports in our community. She also spoke about the important role that business owners, like themselves, play as community partners with nonprofit businesses. Cindy enjoyed illustrating how becoming a business sponsor for a nonprofit is a mutually beneficial relationship.
The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) benefits the community by helping to fund needed supports and services while providing the business with recognition and advertising. The students were full of questions at the end. Cindy looks forward to returning to address the Class of 2022!
